Volunteers Required

Dear Members.

After many years of loyal service John O’brien is looking to ease up in his role as tennis ball monitor and caretaker.

His role profile currently covers:

  • Ordering of tennis balls

  • Distribution of match balls to team captains [undertaken by collection direct from Johns house] at the start of each Summer and Winter season.

  • Supply of balls [again by collection] for club tournament Finals days.

  • Replenishment of club house balls [generally 3 times / week] for members use.

  • Liaison with committee and stand-in monitor for when he is unavailable or on holiday.

Â

This role has been made easier for both John and club members by virtue of John living just down the road from the club.

We are now looking for a volunteer or volunteers to take on at least part of Johns role [or all of it if you are in the volunteering mood]

At committee discussions the consensus was that Ordering + distribution of balls for teams could be undertaken by a Committee Member and the Club Captains, if necessary, but the regular replenishment would best be suited to a volunteer or rota of volunteers local to the club.

If you can assist with fulfilling all or part of this role and take a share of the burden from John and the already overworked committee we would like to hear from you.

Â

Enjoy your tennis

Junior Success

Â

Just to let you know about the recent success that Camberley juniors have had.

Last weekend was the Surrey Youth games and after weeks of training I am delighted to report that the Surrey Heath team, represented by Camberley Under 8 juniors, won the gold medal (Pictured Above).

I have now also had confirmation that we have won the respective divisions of the AEGON Surrey league in under 8, under 16 and under 18 age groups.

The teams have done exceptionaly well and have beaten teams of the calibre of Surbiton, Weybridge Tennis Academy, Purley, Epsom and David Lloyd Woking.

Our under 16 team of Ben O’Hara, Matthew Jack and Tom Meier won their division with a winning games record of 92.8%! Both under 16 and under 18 were unbeaten throughout the season. Â

Camberley junior, Alex Russell, was my assistant coach for the Youth Games and worked extremely hard and Alex and Julian Bressanelli now supervise every Friday club night for juniors.

I continually get great feedback from parents of how well they conduct themselves and represent the club to make it so welcoming for young players.

Enjoy your Tennis
